TAL FITZPATRICK IS A CRAFTIVIST, ARTIST AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER WHO IS CURRENTLY UNDERTAKING A PHD AT THE VICTORIAN COLLEGE OF ARTS WITH THE CENTRE FOR CULTURAL PARTNERSHIPS. TAL IS BASED BETWEEN MELBOURNE AND THE GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA.
Tal’s PhD is a practice based research inquiery into “Craftivism and the political moment”. She is a textile artist who uses techniques of appliqué, quilting, patchwork and painting in order to create figurative textile wall hangings and banners. Working in and with communities in order to create artworks that explore and advocate social, political and environmental issues.
Tal’s creative work is strongly influenced by her experience in the non-profit and emergency management sectors and is driven by a dedication to the principles of social and environmental justice.
